We have rules that we have put into place for the safety of you and other guests taking a Segway tour. Because Segways self-balance uses an onboard computer with sensors, gyroscopes, & accelerometers, certain actions can confuse the sensors leading to potential accidents. The best accidents never happen, and that is always our goal.
Basic guidelines to ride a Segway
Minimum age on the day of the Segway tour
85 lbs. (38.5 kg, 6 stone)
275 lbs. (124.75 kg., 19.5 stone)
Guests cannot be under the influence of any substances at the time of their Segway tour & must follow the safety guidelines and instructions of their tour guide. Failure to abide by these requirements may cause a tour's cancellation with forfeiture of a refund.
While news or suspicion of a pregnancy is wonderful news, guests cannot knowingly be pregnant or suspect that they might be pregnant and ride one of our Segways.
We provide helmets and they must be worn at all times that guests are riding Segways. The helmets must fit properly on the guests' head, so hats cannot be worn with a helmet.
Hanging bags cannot be taken on a tour because the swinging weight of a bag can interfere with the balancing mechanism of the Segway and can cause an accident. We can secure any personal items safely in our locked office during the tour. Fanny packs or backpacks with a chest strap are allowed provided they are secured tight to the guest's body.
Segways are amazingly adept at adjusting to a rider's physical issues. We have had guests with Parkinson's, MS, and other conditions ride our Segways and are pleasantly surprised by a Segway's intuitiveness. We can always see how well someone can handle a Segway during the training under the careful guidance of one of our trained guides and we will gladly issue a refund should the "fit" not be a comfortable one for the rider.
While we do not require our guests to be vaccinated, as a courtesy to other guests and our tour guides, please wear a mask during the paperwork and during the training. We have always asked guests to remain 6 feet apart for safety reasons when riding a Segway, masks are not required while on your tour.
For all cancellations please allow up to 30 days for a refund, although it often takes less time.
Inclement weather: (an unexpected change in the weather at tour time will always allow you the chance to reschedule or cancel). You must cancel with us or the tour guide. A no-show due to weather without notifying us can forfeit your right to a full refund. (We have ponchos for those wanting to go on a tour in a light rain, but we will never do tours during lightning or other dangerous conditions.)
Should an official government emergency order get issued (ie: a Hurricane Warning of imminent local landfall), tours will be cancelled and refunds or gift certificates (should the guest want to reschedule at a later date) will be issued.
We understand that things happen and plans change. Guests may cancel for any reason up to 48 hours prior to their scheduled tour time. Guests must submit this in writing either by email (SegwayCHS@icloud.com) or text (843-834-0725). Please be sure that you have received a confirmation that you4r written request was received.
Personal emergencies do happen. Guests may call us or reach out by either email (SegwayCHS@icloud.com) or text (843-834-0725) if you have a special situation and we will try to work with you.
The ideal solution to a weather or other issue would be a rescheduling of your tour. For this reason it is always good to plan your tour earlier in your stay in Charleston so that a possible rain date can be arranged.
While we are usually able to process a refund quickly, please allow at least 7 business days (Mon-Fri, excluding bank holidays) for us to process your refund. Weather related refunds receive the full amount including fees, all other refunds are for the ticket price but does not include any fees paid.
Even if a guest does not show up, they are still entitled to a gift certificate that be used or given away for up to a year. The gift certificate can be redeemed later with only a 3% handling fee due at the time of the booking.
We are typically closed on New Year's Day Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Day, & Boxing Day. Additionally we do not do afternoon tours on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, ands New Years Eve. Should a tour guide want to do tours on an official holiday, we charge an additional $25/person that will be in the tour guide's next paycheck. You may call us at 843-834-8725 should you want to do a tour on a holiday, provided a tour guide in interested in doing a tour.
